Internet Explorer is a web browser that was once the go-to choice for Windows Vista users. Although it has been replaced by Edge, Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) still holds a special place in the hearts of many.
One of the standout features of IE9 is its clear and minimalist interface. It eliminated unnecessary bars, providing users with more display space and a better browsing experience. The cluttered and baroque interface of previous versions was replaced with a simplified menu, allowing users to focus on the web page they were visiting.
IE9 also brought significant improvements in terms of speed and performance. It introduced hardware acceleration, utilizing the computer's GPU to load graphics and animations faster and smoother. The browser also optimized its use of JavaScript, resulting in faster menus and loading times for advanced web applications.
Compatibility with emerging web standards was another highlight of IE9. It supported HTML5, SVG, and CSS3, making it compatible with all types of web pages. This ensured a stable and smooth browsing experience, even on the most modern websites.
Privacy and security were also prioritized in IE9. The browser introduced the SmartScreen filter, protecting users from insecure connections, malicious websites, and phishing attacks.
Although IE9 is now outdated, it laid the foundations for Microsoft's future browsers. Its improvements in interface, speed, and stability revived a discontinued browser and set the stage for features seen in Microsoft software today. The ability to pin bookmarks and create page lists from the browser's taskbar were particularly well-received by users.
While IE9 is no longer supported, it is advisable to opt for more secure options such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Brave. These browsers offer enhanced security features and ongoing support.
Internet Explorer may be a thing of the past, but its impact on the evolution of web browsers cannot be overlooked. It paved the way for Microsoft's current default browser, Edge, and left a lasting legacy in the world of internet browsing.
